Parimala Mohanty is a dedicated public health researcher and a Senior Consultant at CreIndia. She is currently a recipient of the prestigious Swiss Government Excellence Postdoctoral Scholarship, where she aims to utilize data from the IIT Guwahati-led rabies elimination project to develop a One Health application and estimate the economic burden of rabies in India.
Dr. Mohanty also served as a Senior Research Officer at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, focusing on the capacity building of healthcare professionals. Previously, she worked as a Project Manager at the School of Health Sciences and Technology, IIT Guwahati, leading efforts on the One Health project to eradicate dog-mediated rabies. Her expertise includes data analysis, scholarly article publication, and grant writing, with active involvement in surveys, workshops, and the enumeration of free-roaming dogs in rabies-endemic regions.
She holds a Ph.D. in Community Medicine and has been recognized internationally, including at the CUGH Conference in New York. She has contributed as a consultant for ICAM on economic burden studies of dog population management and also as a WHO SEARO consultant, analyzing COVID-19 data and generating weekly reports. With proficiency in R, STATA, and SPSS, she specializes in scoping and systematic reviews, as well as quantitative research. She has 20+ peer-reviewed publications, 210 citations, an H-index of 8, and an i10-index of 8, showcasing her impactful contributions to global health research. Dr. Mohanty is also actively involved in organizing and facilitating various capacity-building workshops and has participated in several national and international conferences. She has been invited to speak on various platforms on topics such as systematic reviews, One Health, and zoonotic diseases.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Mohanty is a passionate writer, traveler, and artist. She serves as a peer reviewer for reputed journals, including BMC Public Health, PLOS Global Public Health, International Journal for Equity in Health, and the Journal of Social and Economic Development, blending scientific rigor with advocacy to drive meaningful impact in public health.
